At Purnarogya we have found this method very useful to calculate the dose of sneha for the next day which takes into account the agni bala and koṣṭha. During snehapāna, the formula to calculate the dose of sneha for the next day is:
[(A X B) ÷ (C X D)] + A
A = amount of unctuous substance administered on any given day in milliliters
B = Time that a certain type of koṣṭha is supposed to take to digest the sneha in hours (mṛdu 6, madhyama 12, krūra 24)
C = Time taken for amount of ghee/oil “A” to digest (in hours)
D = Number of days within which utkleśa is expected to take place in a certain type of koṣṭha (mṛdu 3, madhyama 5, krūra 7)
This can help avoid the undesirable circumstances arising from consuming too less or too much ghee/oil etc during this treatment and thus produce optimum results.
